Clara I liked your '"poorman's meal, it reminded me how my Mother made "poor people's " food when I was a child. she made that potato almost the same way, but instead of sauce she put hungarian red pepper on the potato and poured water in just covered the food. It was GREAT and nobody could make that food how she did it , She died 8 months ago, she was 97 years old. I MISS HER A LOT. It was very nice to see your beautiful face on that video. i make this same dish but i used eckridge smoked sausage. i cover it while cooking so the potatoes steam better and get done then i un cover then brown it all for flavor. i use a mixture of butter and olive oil. probably tastes exacly the same

According to Jack Lalanne's weight gain plan he recommends 3 big meals with a few snacks in between. The modern day "gurus" have simply converted that advice into 6 small meals per day. It's whatever works for you and your schedule, and for me that isn't going to be 1 meal. And for the record, he is known to take whey protein once per day with raw veggy juice after his morning workout. Also, he is a believer in raw milk and occasionally fasts (I think 24 hours with watermelon juice.)

Yogurt has been around for a couple thousand years. I don't know about skim milk but before homogenized milk a majority of the cream (butterfat) floated to the top of the bottle and was often skimmed off for use in cooking etc. I must disagree about "total calories consumed for the day". Hormonal reaction to overeating at any one meal necessitates that meals be smaller and distributed over time. You may be right though, that six might be overdoing it.

I'm stunned how far ahead of his time he was. The diet is almost spot-on correct. I didn't know they made yogurt and skim milk back then, plus other low-fat food he mentions. I used to eat 6 small meals a day. It's BULL. It's the total calories consumed for the day. I'll eat 3 plus a snack now and am leaner then when I had the six small meals. Jack's a smart guy.

You are clueless. We need no more than 1 main meal per day. The rest is minimal grazing. The amount of protein you need is less than you think and is promoted by the industry. Eg, whey is one of the worst prtein suypplements you can eat (high glutamates that fry your NMDA receptors). Our ancient hunter gatherers often went days without a fresh kill. Fasting is a natural state. If you cannot handle it, your insulin levels are way high from bad living.

As long as you're eating a balanced diet then of course protein shakes are fine. None of those protein or power shakes are necessary is my point, only simple healthy food is enough. They're just now discovering how complex the digestive system is,, and how important it is to avoid processed food, and that goes for too many protein shakes (since they contain vast amounts of sugar and lots of artificial stuff). Moderation is fine, but nothing except Jack Lalaines diet is best I think.

We cannot argue that differences between genders are a bad thing. Why would we discourage those differences by insisting on treating genders as if they are the same? nice man, i make mine q little different. about half an onion, 7 egg whites (as in 7 eggs without the yolk), a little garlic, and pam so it don't stick. the more pam the better. the last thing u want is to have to scrape off egg residue from the pan which will accumulate quite a lot if u dont use pam properly.

I respect the movement Alice Waters has inspired but I resent her superior air and hypocritical last meal. Sad part is, she said it to sound worldly and impressive. So sad. Oh and for those who complain about the price of organic, don't bother, it's a term used by the government which has come to mean more expensive. Do a little research and you will find that there is likely someone in your area who grown great produce well and sells it at affordable prices at a REAL farmers market.
